Outdoors 101 Project

Established in 2008, we are small group of individuals organized for one simple goal:  getting people outdoors.  Our original goal was a variety of activities, but have singled out fishing.  Since our inception, we've established ourselves in our community and have introduced over 75 families to fishing through our Fishing 101 classes.

Fishing 101 Classes
Family fishing classes in different communities at no cost to attendees.  We give the knowledge and equipment for everyone in the family to start fishing.

Click on the Fishing 101 page to the left for more information.

The Mobridge class is scheduled for two evenings -- date to be scheduled

Family Fishing Derbies:  June ??, 2016
Held every May in Mobridge, we have had as many as 60 families participate.  Prizes are awarded to anglers bringing in the longest fish.  We have nice prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd for 9 different fish species.  For a complete list of prizes, valued at over $700, go to the Fishing Derby page.

The Moose Lodge will be providing a free supper after fishing

Couples Walleye Tournament:
Every July we hold a couples walleye tournament.  This year will be our 8th annual and is scheduled for July 9th, 2016.

MPHS Fishing Tigers:
Assisted and run through Outdoors 101 Project, our high school fishing team, The Fishing Tigers, will be competing in the Berkley High School Challenge again during the 2015-2016 school year.  In addition, we hope to compete against other SD schools during the year.  Details will be coming later.

Due to poor ice conditions the tourney will not be held.
The Fishing Tigers held a 2 or 3 person ice fishing tournament Feb. 21, 2016.  The tournament will be a fundraiser for our HS Fishing Tigers and the dollars raised will be put toward expenses incurred with spring activities.  Click on the tab to the right to go the Fishing Tigers Ice Tourney page.

As of now, the "Hand-Off" is not going to take place on the 2-22.  We may be able to reschedule this for this spring.
